Bio
I'm a 24 year-old Indian-born Australian, who grew up in New Zealand, working as an expat in Singapore. The long and the short of it.. was born in Madras (now Chennai), moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) when I was 6 months old, where I lived until I was around 12, then moved to Hamilton, New Zealand where I lived for a couple of years before moving to Auckland. Moved to Brisbane, Australia in 1999, and the to Sydney in 2003 and have been living in Singapore since February 2005. My business is journalism and I work as a photographic sub editor hack (read: newbie editorial position with room for very quick movement) in one of the world's biggest and most reputable news agencies. I've lived in 20 different houses at various points in my 24 years of existence, and know at least 7 cities spread over 2 continents well enough to be considered a local in all of them. I graduated with a degree in photojournalism, worked as a taxi driver when I couldn't find work, then worked a shit job on the picture desk at Australia's national news agency. In December 2004 I spent a month in Indonesia doing my own photographic projects (my idea of a vacation) and applied for a job as an editor while in transit in Singapore. I did the interview in transit on the way back and two weeks later was preparing to move to Singapore to take a dream job. I'm doing all of this in cahoots with a wonderful partner who lives about 6,000km away from me and is trying her best to survive her own set of demanding circumstances with grace, studying full time and working to afford it the rest of the time, but we love each other too much to let each other go - and besides, it's an old journalistic tradition to be working away from loved ones. And one day, she'll be working away from me, and I might have to follow her somewhere for a change. There's more to tell and more for me to know, but it's all best done through writing, I think.

Everything I post here - particularly opinion and diatribes - bears no influence, and is not related to my professional life, in which my personal opinions do not interfere with my work, nor does this journal reflect the opinions or views of my place of work in any way.
